Missing 13-year-old girl from Texas found in North Carolina outbuilding; suspect arrested

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A girl who went missing from Dallas, Texas, was found locked in an outbuilding a thousand miles away in North Carolina.

In a news release, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said that on Friday around 6 p.m., a special agent with the Texas FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force contacted them about a missing 13-year-old girl from Dallas, Texas.

The Dallas Police Department had been working with the FBI to investigate the missing girl’s case and learned that the girl had been communicating with a man through a chat on social media. Investigators believed their communication showed signs of grooming and enticement, according to the sheriff’s office.

The FBI contacted the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and deputies were sent to start conducting surveillance, according to WSOC.

Deputies along with FBI Greensboro Field Office agents, located a car that was registered to a man in Davidson County, North Carolina. According to the news outlet, the car was stopped as it was leaving the same address.

During the traffic stop, investigators learned that the girl was locked inside an “outbuilding on the property” in Lexington, North Carolina.

The suspect was identified as Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho, 34, by the sheriff’s office.

Camacho had reportedly convinced the girl to leave her house, according to WSOC. Camacho then picked her up.

Camacho has been charged with child abduction, felonious restraint, human trafficking, two counts of statutory rape of child, two counts of statutory sex off with child, and indecent liberties, according to the sheriff’s office. Camacho is being held on a $1.25 million bond.

The sheriff’s office said the girl was taken to the hospital to be evaluated and was eventually brought back to Texas. She didn’t appear to have any physical injuries.
