New VA clinics planned for Bartlesville, Claremore

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will open new clinics in Bartlesville and Claremore. Both clinics will be in Cherokee Nation.

This comes as the decision was made to close the VA clinic in Vinita. The VA says the decision to close was not in the long-term plan for the Vinita area, but the property holder increased lease costs outside of fair market value during the lease renewal.

Claremore is about 40 miles southwest, and Bartlesville 50 miles west of Vinita. The VA will look for another location in Craig County, where Vinita resides.

“VA is committed to providing Veterans with high quality health care no matter where they live,” said Mark Morgan, Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System Director.

FOX23 showed the groundbreaking of a new VA clinic in downtown Tulsa. The Kerr-Edmondson building will be remodeled into the new hospital with construction scheduled to wrap up in 2024.

The Vinita VA Outpatient Clinic will stay open until the new clinic opens in Claremore. The Claremore VA Outpatient Clinic and the new Bartlesville clinic are scheduled to open at the end of 2022.
