Tulsa police recruiters sound optimistic tone

The city of Tulsa has had a tough time recruiting and retaining police officers. But that may be changing.

The people in charge of recruiting for TPD say they’re cautiously optimistic that the new contract between the city and the Tulsa FOP will yield positive dividends.

Specifics of the new contact have not been spelled out.

But Patrick Stephens, who chairs the police union’s board of directors, tells the Tulsa World that rank-and-file officers are pleased with negotiations.

Specifics won’t be disclosed until after the contract is officially signed.

Stephens says the contract agreement is good news for the entire city because it addresses public safety.

He added, the Mayor’s Office is standing behind police officers not only in speech but also in action.
