Tulsa mom charged with child neglect

A Tulsa mom is now facing a charge of child neglect for an incident that happened in August.

Tulsa police say Lillie Lightning simply ran off and left her two-year-old son wandering alone on the Katy trail in west Tulsa, possibly for hours, before he was found.

Police say it's an odd case.

“It's pretty rare to see a child actually abandoned like that,” police say. “Just at random almost, with no real reason or no explanation, good or bad explanation.”

Police say Lightning claimed the boy ran away from her at a Quik Trip, but police say they looked at security video from the store and found no sign of that.

The child has since been in protective custody.
