Tulsa City Councilor Grant Miller arrested for domestic assault and battery

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa City Councilor Grant Miller was arrested for domestic assault and battery on Thursday night around 9 p.m.

According to the arrest report, Tulsa City Councilor Grant Miller was booked into the Tulsa County jail for domestic assault and battery around 10 PM Thursday.

The victim told police the incident happened a couple of days ago.

The report says the fight began when Miller allegedly kept looking at his phone while they were watching a movie.

The report says during the fight, Miller kicked and pushed the victim to the ground.

Police say there were visible bruises on her arms and legs.

The incident was reported to police by the victim’s mother.

Miller has not been charged at this time.

The City of Tulsa released a statement Friday morning saying, “We are aware of the recent arrest. While this is a concerning development, it is an ongoing legal matter and this is the only comment we can provide.”

Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin posted a statement on social media about Miller’s arrest saying, “I want to add clarity to the arrest of a city councilor for proper reporting. The law compels officers to arrest in domestic cases where probable cause exists that an assault occurred. Prosecutors will determine validity and work with the crime victim who made the allegation.”

Miller’s bond was set at $8,000 and he was ordered to wear a GPS monitor upon release.

Jail records indicate Miller was released at 2:49pm Frirday.
