The Oklahoma House of Representatives Rules Committee passed House Joint Resolution 1032 on Thursday.
The legislation calls for Oklahoma to join with other states in calling for a convention to propose term limits on members of the United States Congress.
The Oklahoma Legislature of Oklahoma hereby makes an application to Congress, as provided by Article V of the Constitution of the United States of America, to call a convention limited to proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America to set a limit on the number of terms that a person may be elected as a Member of the United States House of Representatives and to set a limit on the number of terms that a person may be elected as a Member of the United States Senate.

A similar bill, Senate Joint Resolution 14, was introduced in the Oklahoma Senate.
The House Rules Committee passed HJR 1032 by a vote of 8-2. It now heads to the full House for a vote.
A recent poll showed 73 percent of Oklahoma voters favor an amendment imposing term limits on Congress.
