OK Court of Criminal Appeals denies AG’s motion to vacate Richard Glossip’s murder conviction

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals denied a motion by Attorney General Gentner Drummond to vacate the murder conviction of death row inmate Richard Glossip.

The case will be sent back to district court, according to the AG’s office.

The Court also denied the state’s motion for a stay of execution.

“While I respect the Court of Criminal Appeals’ opinion, I am not willing to allow an execution to proceed despite so many doubts. Ensuring the integrity of the death penalty demands complete certainty. I will thoroughly review the ruling and consider what steps should be taken to ensure justice.”

As of now, Glossip is set to be executed on May 18th.
