Man shot, killed during apparent dispute at Tulsa salvage yard

TULSA — An apparent dispute between employees of a Tulsa salvage yard turned deadly Thursday afternoon.

KRMG was told the men were employees of Superior Salvage, though the incident actually took place across the street in a parking lot.

Witnesses said one man had a knife, the other a gun - however, TPD lead homicide detective Sgt. Brandon Watkins could not confirm the presence of a second weapon.

He did tell KRMG at the scene that the shooter was lawfully in possession of a gun.

“The one who did the shooting, he did have a concealed carry permit on him, yes,” Watkins said.

However, he added, that doesn’t mean the investigation’s over.

“We’ve got to figure out what happened first,” he said adding that a concealed carry permit “is not a ‘get out of jail free’ card.”

As of late Thursday afternoon, no names had been released by police.

This was the third homicide in Tulsa in about 16 hours, but as Watkins noted, they were completely unrelated.

“Couldn’t be more unrelated,” he said.
