Green the Vote leaders admit to giving inaccurate marijuana petition numbers

Leaders of ‘Green the Vote,’  the organization gathering signatures to get recreational marijuana on the ballot, have admitted they do not have the number of signatures they said they did.

Green the Vote’s Issac Caviness went on Facebook Live to tell supporters the numbers reported were estimates, and not hard counts.

A little over a week ago, Green the Vote reported having more than 130,000 signatures. In the video, Caviness said the number is closer to 78,000 for the recreational marijuana petition.

A second petition focused on medical marijuana has around 72,000 signatures, according to Caviness.

Another Facebook Live video was posted on the Green the Vote page in which Dody Sullivan told supporters she left the organization over the matter.

Sullivan said she was the one in charge of counting the votes, and said she knew the numbers being given were not accurate.

“It took a while for my moral compass to find north.” Sullivan said.
