Garmin opens R&D facility in Tulsa

Garmin International, a company that's very well-known by runners and fishermen among others, has opened a research and development lab in Tulsa, according to the website Rocky Mountain Tracking, which focuses on GPS news.

Garmin makes all kinds of nifty, high-end electronics, everything from GPS watches that runners use to map their routes and time their workouts to sonar-scanning fishfinders that people take out on boats.

The lab in Tulsa is in the 41st and Garnett area and will have engineers doing research on Garmin's marine line of products.

It won't employ a lot of people initially,  just two or three, but eventually as many as 15.

The Tulsa Chamber told the website they're happy to have a new employer on board in Tulsa.
