Tulsa, Okla. — Officer Betty Shelby has announced her resignation from the Tulsa police department.
“I have found that sitting behind a desk, isolated from all of my fellow officers and the citizens of Tulsa, is just not for me.” Shelby wrote in a letter.
Shelby’s resignation will be effective August 3, 2017.

Shelby was found not guilty of a manslaughter in the death of Terence Crutcher.
Shelby shot and killed Crutcher in September of 2016.
