Tulsa Police identify woman found in Philpott Park, first case affected by McGirt Supreme Court outcome

Tulsa Police have identified the woman found dead in a park on Friday as 45-year-old Crystal Bradley

Investigators say Bradley was found in Philpott Park on Friday around 11 a.m.

Police say Bradley died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The area around Philpott Park is within the boundary of Muskogee Creek Nation, and police say Bradley is Native American.

A spokesperson with the FBI says there were a few reasons this is federal jurisdiction, but the McGirt case from the U.S. Supreme Court decision is one of them.

We’re told a suspect is now in federal custody.

29-year-old James Landry was arrested on a federal charge of manslaughter by the FBI and is listed as an FBI hold.

Investigators say Landry told them he had pointed a shotgun at Bradley but Bradley put the barrel in her mouth and allegedly pulled the trigger on her own.

Tulsa Police say Landry was still at the park when cops arrived on scene.

Landry is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 16.

TPD Homicide is reportedly assisting with the FBI and tribal authorities.
