Tulsa Parks to open only two pools per day

TULSA, Okla. — Because of a lifeguard shortage, Tulsa Parks has announced they will only open two city pools per day.

Currently, Tulsa Parks has 14 certified lifeguards. In the past, they were able to open all pools with a staff of 24.

Park officials would ideally like to have 35 lifeguards for the summer season.

The new pool schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, June 4 – McClure and Berry Pools*
  • Sunday, June 5 – Lacy and Whiteside Pools
  • Monday, June 6 – Lacy and Whiteside Pools
  • Tuesday, June 7 – McClure and Berry Pools*
  • Wednesday, June 8 – Lacy and Whiteside Pools
  • Thursday, June 9 – McClure and Berry Pools*
  • Friday, June 10 - Lacy and Whiteside Pools

*Due to supply chain issues, Berry Pool may be out of service in the coming week as crews wait for parts to replace the pool pump.

This weekend, the pools at Lacy and Berry Parks will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., McClure and Whiteside pools will be open from noon to 6 p.m.

All pools are closed on Sundays, except on opening weekend this year.

Please note, this weekly schedule is subject to change. Any changes will be announced via the Tulsa Parks Facebook page.

If you know someone interested in being a lifeguard and who is already certified, please have them visit www.tulsaparks.org to apply.
