A college-bound Texas waitress says she's in shock after receiving a generous gift from a customer – a $1,000 tip.
According to KLTV, Alesha Palmer, an 18-year-old senior at Kemp High School, has been working about 30 hours a week at Vetoni's Italian restaurant in Gun Barrel City to save up for college. Last weekend, she was telling some regular customers about her plans.
"They were asking about my college plans, and (I) told them my parents were helping," she told KLTV.
Another customer – a man dining alone – apparently overheard. He approached the restaurant owner when he went to pay for his meal.
At first, Palmer was worried and asked the owner whether she had done something wrong. The owner then revealed the man's $1,000 tip on the $9.69 bill.
"I kind of just stood there wide-eyed, and I just started crying ... in the middle of the restaurant," she told KLTV.
"I mean, this can't be happening, this has to be a dream," she added.
The donor asked to remain anonymous.
"I would like to thank him deeply and utterly," Palmer told KLTV. "It's not every day that you come across someone that's as sweet and generous."
