Suspect accused of intentionally spreading HIV

Tulsa, Okla. — A man suspected of knowingly spreading human immunodeficiency virus is in the Tulsa County jail.

Detectives say Benjamin Whitney from Bristow gave the sexually-transmitted disease to at least two people and lied to them about having it.

He was arrested Wednesday.

Court documents tell us Whitney was diagnosed with HIV in 2014 and received counseling for it, so he knew he has it.

Police say Whitney was reckless in his behavior, so there could be more victims out there.
