'Story time with Santa' fundraiser set for Saturday

TULSA — Saturday, a special event at the Central Library in downtown Tulsa will combine the fun and joy of Christmas with the spirit of giving - and the gift of hope.

The goal is to raise $10,000 to fund research on a disease many Americans may have never heard of, called “Angelman Syndrome.”

Remi Matheson, 3, is the daughter of Dr. Derek and Chrysti Matheson of Bartlesville, who learned when she was about nine months old that she'd been diagnosed with the neurogenetic disorder.

Dr. Matheson tells KRMG that there's very promising research that may lead to a cure.

The event will benefit FAST, the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics.

It will take place Saturday, Dec. 14th from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Pocahontas Room inside the Tulsa Central Library.

Activities will include two story sessions with the jolly old elf, as well as activities including building gingerbread houses, face painting, and making ornaments.

Vendors will be on hand with snacks and holiday gifts.

Admission is free.
