Rep. Bridenstine to host 'Securing America' town hall Tuesday

The public is invited to a town hall meeting Tuesday, and the topic is "Securing America."

Rep. Jim Bridenstine of Oklahoma's 1st District is hosting the event Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mabee Center in Tulsa.

Mr. Bridenstine tells KRMG his office is receiving more phone calls than at any point in his two-year term so far, and nearly all of them center on fears about Ebola, ISIS, and border security.

"One thing we hear about in our office more than anything else right now are the national security issues facing our nation," he told KRMG.

He adds that it's important to meet those issues head on, for example when it comes to the so-called Islamic State.

"The lessons of history are that when you don't respond evil prospers and it grows, and the longer you wait, the worse it gets," he said.

He's also disappointed with the response so far to the Ebola scare.

"What you don't do is what we have currently done - which is pretty much nothing - and then appoint a political operative to be the 'Ebola Czar.'"

He will address those issues, and take questions from the audience.

He also plans to discuss Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as the situations in Iran and Israel.
