If you find yourself craving a burger and sweet potato fries from McNellie's, and you don't feel like making the drive to 1st and Elgin in downtown Tulsa, you'll soon have a more southerly choice to fill that void.
McNellie's South pub and restaurant plans to open in either late April or early May of this year in the old Diamond Jack's restaurant building just northeast of 71st and Yale.
McNellie's Restaurant Group spokesman Jim O'Connor says the location should benefit from all the nearby offices and medical buildings in the south Tulsa area during the lunchtime period and from all the south Tulsa residents during the evening.
"We've heard from people who work downtown and love McNellie's at lunchtime and happy hour and when they're downtown for events, but they always found it hard to come back downtown when they live out south," O'Connor said.
Even though the Diamond Jack's building is smaller than McNellie's downtown location, O'Connor said McNellie's South will still have all the same menu offerings and the same kind of wide selection of beers on tap that have become one of McNellie's trademarks.
