Ronald Perley wasn’t hungry, he was looking for a way out.
Perley claimed to be looking at engagement rings at Bellman’s Jewelry when he grabbed one worth about $3,200. He ran toward the door but it was locked and he couldn't get out.
Surveillance video then shows Perley putting his hand to his mouth and then swallowing the ring.
He was taken into custody for theft and falsifying physical evidence after X-rays showed the 14-karat white-gold ring with princess-cut diamonds inside him.
Police in Manchester New Hampshire had no choice. They out Perley in jail and waited for nature to take over.
It did, and the ring has been recovered. No word on if it will be a sale item once it’s back on shelves in the store.
As for Perley, he was being held on $50,000 bail.
It's not clear if he has an attorney or a chef.
