Man arrested on felony warrant after crashing car into local motel

Tulsa Police arrested a wanted man after they say he crashed his car into the Oyo Motel near Admiral and Sheridan Saturday afternoon.

Police say it happened just before 5 p.m.

Witnesses called 911 saying a car had crashed into the motel.

When first responders got there, they say they found the car had broken through a motel room wall, damaging a pillar that supports a second-floor balcony.

The driver, Duane Harper, then reportedly jumped into a responding ambulance.

EMSA paramedics checked him out, and he was arrested.

Police say they later learned Harper was wanted on a warrant out of Tennessee for a parole violation on a sex crimes conviction.

He was arrested on that warrant, public intoxication, and resisting arrest.

Police say bystanders told them the suspect was trying to run over a woman when he hit the building. The woman didn’t stay around to talk with officers.

Tulsa Fire Rescue responded to reinforce the structure and remove the car from the wall.
