Downtown Tulsa is about to see another new business

Another restaurant will soon open in downtown Tulsa.  This latest eatery won’t be in the Blue Dome, Brady or Greenwood districts. It will be in one of the icons of the Tulsa skyline, the Philtower.

Hunt Hawkins and Eric Richards are behind Edward Delk’s.  The name comes from the man who designed the Philtower, architect Edward Delk.

Scheduled to open sometime in December, there’s a lot of work to do in the first floor space in the building’s northwest corner.  Richards says it will be a mixture of old and new.  “We’ll have original terrazzo floors.  There will be a little bit of an industrial mix in the décor with the exposed brick walls and exposed concrete ceiling.”

Hawkins says they plan to open at 10:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m., but hours are not set just yet.  “We’ll be serving the downtown lunch hour.”  Closing time isn’t set yet, either.  “That will be decided by our patrons and hopefully we’ll have a strong happy hour.”  Hawkins says they also hope to be open on weekends.

As for the menu, Richards says there will be some signature items.  “Beer-braised beef panini.  We have flatbread pizzas.  There will be soups.”  He says they’ll also have a daily blue plate special that could be something like lobster mac and cheese, something Hawkins is pushing for.

When suggested that it sounded like an upscale diner, Hawkins was quick to say it will be more of a jazzed-up bar menu in the evenings.  He says they want their customers to feel comfortable if they come into the place in jeans.
