BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Teenager Karelis Olivares thought she was just receiving an award for the City of Broken Arrow’s Utilities Department’s Drinking Water Week Art Contest.
However, during the presentation, Karelis was surprised by her dad, Carlos. Carlos is in the Navy and has served for 20 years, most recently in San Diego.
Karelis and her sister haven’t seen their dad since May, and they didn’t believe they would see him until Thanksgiving.
