Drivers have long anticipated the day that all the orange barrels are gone from I-44 at Lewis.
That won’t be for a few more months, but drivers could see some changes as soon as this weekend.
ODOT tells KRMG crews plan to put two westbound lanes of traffic onto the new pavement in the Lewis corridor.
This will only happen if rain doesn’t move through and spoil the plans. If rain does delay the change, it will happen at a later time.
ODOT expects the entire Lewis project to be completed by this summer. Crews have made progress on the Lewis bridge over I-44 and are pouring some of the deck Friday afternoon.
Crews will continue to work on the areas between lanes and on side streets as the project nears completion.
