TULSA — City leaders are celebrating after American Airlines said they will be hiring 400 more employees for the Tulsa base.
"This is the first time in more than a decade that we've hired this many team members simultaneously," said Erik Olund, Managing Director of Base Maintenance for American.
Company leaders say they are adding maintenance work for American's 787 planes.
The new hires will bring the workforce at the maintenance base to around 5,600 people.
"For 73 years, American has operated the largest commercial aviation maintenance base in the world here in Tulsa," said City of Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum. "This announcement not only reaffirms American's continuing commitment to Tulsa, but also the great benefit our community receives from investments like this.”Go to
