American Airlines today announcing a record-breaking investment in Tulsa: $550-million dollars in the Tulsa Maintenance Base.
It's believed to be the single largest capital investment in city history.
American's CEO Doug Parker was on hand today at the base for the announcement.
He said there should be no doubt that American is staying in Tulsa.
“The answer unequivocally has always been 'yes', but now it's absolutely, we've made that certain with this large investment,” Parker said.
The crown jewel of the project will be a brand-new, large hangar for work on the newest wide-body jets.
They also plan to overhaul all the existing buildings at the 3 million square foot plant.
