Kanye West will appear on the presidential ballot in Oklahoma

OKLAHOLMA CITY, Okla. — Some new faces will be appearing on the ballot, come November.

Voters have six candidates to choose from when it comes to the U.S. presidential race in Oklahoma, including three independent candidates.

One of those candidates may come as a surprise, Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West.

West, along with fellow independent candidates Jade Simmons and Brock Pierce filed their statements of candidacy using a similar method.

According to Oklahoma law, a candidate can appear on the ballot by either or gathering around 35,500 signatures from legally registered voters or pay a $35,000 filing fee to the Oklahoma State Election Board.

All three candidates chose to pay the fee.

The next step is to get seven registered voters to serve as electors and send in a notarized form in support of that candidate by October 4th.

West will appear on the November ballot in only about a dozen other states, and some states have chosen to open investigations into the effort after finding fraudulent signatures on some of the petitions that were submitted.
