Former daycare worker charged after trying to sell child porn on Twitter

STILLWATER, Okla. — A disturbing case, that is concerning Stillwater locals.

“That’s utterly disgusting,” said Zak Fleshman.

“Incredibly disheartening,” agreed Kristy Clark.

Their reactions to a recent Stillwater arrest.

Savannah Noel Hawthorne, 22, was arrested for distribution of child sexual abuse material and possession of child sexual abuse material, according to the Stillwater Police Department (SPD).

“On Friday June 3, 2022 SPD detectives, along side with Enid and OSBI, served a warrant in Enid in the Hawthorn residence where Hawthorn was arrested,” said Lt. T.J. Low.

SPD received a cyber tip in late 2021, from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip indicated a suspect on Twitter had possession of child pornography and was actively soliciting buyers for distribution.

“Cybertip came from Twitter than indicated that Hawthorne was in possession of child pornography and was actively soliciting buyers for child pornography,” he continued.

SPD identified the suspect as Savannah Noel Hawthorne of Enid, Okla.

Hawthorne moved from Stillwater to Enid. While she lived in Stillwater she worked at a local daycare facility.

But police cant confirm if she was employed at the daycare during the investigation.

“I don’t know the details on when the investigation started with her employment,” said Lt. Low.

FOX23 called multiple daycares in Stillwater. Kids World Learning center picked up the phone, and told FOX23 there is an ongoing investigation and they did not want to interview or answer questions at this time.

“It is disturbing as a parent - you always worry about your kids and family,” said Lt. Low.

After serving a search warrant at Hawthorne’s residence in Enid, authorities found and seized a number of evidentiary items.

Hawthorne was taken into custody under warrant and booked at Payne County Jail, where she is charged with distribution of child sexual abuse material and possession of child sexual abuse material.

The Stillwater daycare facility Hawthorne was previously employed by has been notified and are fully cooperating with investigators.

Parents and legal guardians of the children who were under the care of Hawthorne, have been alerted.

The possibility of harm to any children at the facility is being thoroughly investigated.
