Zeta, the 27th named storm of the busy 2020 Atlantic season, weakened to a post-tropical cyclone on Thursday, hours after making landfall as a hurricane on the southeastern coast of Louisiana.
The storm lashed the northern Gulf Coast and large swaths of the southeastern United States before emerging off the mid-Atlantic coast early Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service’s National Hurricane Center.
