Tuesday marks the four-year anniversary of Biden’s announcement that he was running for president in the 2020 election.

“We’ll announce it relatively soon,” Biden told reporters last week. “I told you my plan is to run again.”

Reuters reported that sources familiar with the president’s plans said it is likely Biden will release a video to announce his re-election bid.

The White House declined to comment.

Biden, at 80 years old, is the oldest person to have served as president. If he is re-elected, he would be 86 at the end of a second four-year term.

Biden has said age wasn’t part of the calculation on whether to launch a 2024 bid but said it was “totally legitimate” for people to raise issues about it.

“And the only thing I can say is, ‘Watch me,’” he said.

According to The New York Times, Democratic donors have been invited to Washington, D.C., with strategy sessions planned for later next week.

Invitations have gone out to those who donated or raised at least $1 million for Democratic candidates, a person who was invited told the Times.

Former President Donald Trump, former U.N. ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, tech and finance executive Vivek Ramaswamy and radio host Larry Elder have announced they will be running for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.

Self-help author and spiritual advisor Marianne Williamson and Robert Kennedy Jr. have announced they will seek the Democratic nomination.

Biden’s approval ratings have lagged in the past few months. In a Wall Street Journal poll published this week, Biden’s job approval rating remains underwater, with 42% of voters approving of his performance in office and 56% disapproving.

However, in polls conducted this week, Biden would beat Trump in a rematch of the 2020 presidential election according to the Wall Street Journal poll.

In a Harvard-Harris poll, Trump would beat Biden in a head-to-head rematch.
