Woman busted for prostitution, gets charged in murder case

We have updated information regarding a woman who was arrested over the weekend at the America's Best Value Inn and Suites, for prostitution.

It turns out Melissa Evans was wanted in connection with a murder out of Oklahoma City.  A Tulsa officer we spoke to says he's not surprised.

"It is just that type of lifestyle  and a lot of our homicides revolve around those issues," police said.

We're told investigators in Oklahoma County believe Evans is one of four people who helped dispose of a woman's body in early April.

Original:  It has become a very useful tool for Tulsa undercover officers.

"Vice officers observed (the) escort ad on Backpage.com," TPD said.  "Vice officers have made numerous arrests from Backpage."

On Thursday, they made one more.

Police say they contacted an ad on the website and a meeting was arranged.

When the undercover officer arrived at the scene, it didn't take long for 30-year-old Melissa Evans to end up in handcuffs.

"Escort stated $100/ 1/2 hr.," TPD said.  "Inside the room, the escort gave u/c a condom for a sexual act."

Evans was then taken into custody.

Police say Evans faces two felony counts because the location was within 1000 feet of a school and because "she posted her ad with a cell phone, violating state statute."

Evans was taken to the Tulsa County Jail.
