Scammers targeting Tulsa medical professionals

A familiar phone scam is now being used against medical professionals in the Tulsa area, according to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.

TCSO said several people in the medical field, including doctors, nurses and even physician’s assistants, have contacted deputies to report the call.

In this scam, the caller claims to be Sergeant Paul Huss and threatens the victim with immediate arrest if they do not pay fines over the phone. TCSO said the scammer claims the victim has missed court dates in which they were subpoenaed to testify as a medical professional.

The sheriff’s office said the scammer does their research and knows the victim’s address and where they work.

TCSO said it appears no one has fallen victim to this scam yet, but they want people to be aware that it is happening.

The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office wants everyone to know the following:

  • TCSO never calls anyone with warrants to demand money.
  • If you receive one of these calls, hang up.
  • If you’re a victim of this scam, contact us at 918-596-5600 to file a report.
  • As an added tool to combat this scam, citizens can check to see if they have a Tulsa County warrant using the “Check warrants” link on the homepage of tcso.org.
