Joe Exotic says he’s getting married

Joe Exotic said he’s getting divorced and re-married.

He mailed FOX23 investigative reporter Janna Clark to tell her about his new nuptials.

The hand-written letter starts with “Janna, how are you doing? Thought I would give you an update on everything. First, I’m getting married.”

Joe’s attorney said a couple weeks ago, Joe filed for divorce from Dillon Passage, the man featured in Tiger King.

Joe writes he’s now “engaged to the most amazing man ever.” He says he met John Robert Graham in Fort Worth at prison, and they’ve been together for over a year.

He sent photos of John, who recently got out of prison. John has a son, so when Joe and John get married, Joe will be a stepfather.

He wrote “What a story, huh? Found loved in prison, I have to thank Carole Baskin...”

Joe also talked to be about his health. He said on the phone in February that he had COVID.

“As sick as I am all the time, I thought I was going to end up on a ventilator,” said Joe at the time.

Joe has said he’s also going through treatments for prostate cancer.

He wrote “I have 25 radiation treatments left out of 42 and then have to wait 30 days to see if I’m in remission.”

He said he’s down from 185 pounds to 156, and that he spends most of his days pretty sick.

Joe was resentenced in January for wildlife offenses and hiring someone to kill Carole Baskin, who runs a big cat sanctuary in Florida. Instead of the previous sentence of 22 years in prison, the judge resentenced him to 21 years in prison.

The day of the resentencing, Joe’s attorney, John Phillips, promised what was to come.

“These things go to trial, resentencing, new trial and so we had to get through sentencing to get to the point of new trial,” said Phillips.

Phillips said he has filed a motion to get a new trial.

Joe said in a previous phone call, “Mentally, I will never be the same, ever. I lay here every night praying to go to make my heart stop.” But now it’s obvious in his letter, Joe’s upbeat and looking forward to what’s to come.

Joe ended his letter with “time to fight back. I have a husband and son to live for.”

He signed it “Joe Graham” and below that, “Joe Exotic”.
