Dick Loftin joined KRMG and Cox Media Group in May 2008 as Senior Producer. Now, he has expanded his responsibilites with the addition of Host for The KRMG Evening News from 5 to 7pm. The KRMG Evening News brings Tulsans 2 full hours of the top stories of the day. “This is the highlight of a very long career in radio. I have many decades in Tulsa radio and have worked for Tulsa’s greatest radio stations, but being the Host of The KRMG Evening News is a career milestone. You can’t be in Tulsa radio without being aware of what KRMG brings to the table. I have listened to KRMG for decades and the heritage of this radio station is unmatched in Tulsa. KRMG is a Marconi Award-winning radio station and is recognized nationwide for its commitment to breaking news and severe weather coverage. Being the Host of The KRMG Evening News is a career highlight for me and I plan on being part of the KRMG family for a long, long time,” Dick said.
Dick is a native Oklahoman and has lived in Tulsa since 1976. His interest in radio began at eight after hearing his brother on a radio station in Muskogee. It wasn’t long before Dick found his way to his hometown radio station in Okmulgee and “stayed until they let me in!” With the persistence of youth and the patience of the owner of KOKL, Okmulgee’s local radio station, he learned the basics of the business and began his career in 1970 at age 15. He has worked in Tulsa radio since the mid-70’s.
Dick Loftin is an avid reader and buyer of books. His reading interests include biography and history. His favorite author is historian David McCullough. He is also a passionate collector of vintage typewriters. He lives in Coweta with his wife Ruby, their lab, Lola, and their basset mix, Izzy.
