TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa VFW Post 577 and Survivor Outreach Services are hosting the 4th Annual Memorial Day “Field of Heroes” to honor fallen military members and families who have lost a loved one in service to the United States.
The field of heroes is a formation of empty boots, donning ID tags and American Flags, honoring local fallen heroes who have died while serving.
Tulsa VFW Post 577 Past Commander Josh Starks said “We are humbled to partner with Oklahoma Survivor Outreach Services and our amazing sponsors and volunteers again this year to bring a visual representation of what Memorial Day is really all about through a formation of empty boots representing our Oklahoma fallen service men and women. This display has and will continue to allow Gold Star Families, Veterans and our Tulsa community to all remember our fallen and experience the emptiness left behind by their selfless sacrifice.”

Shannon Lucas, a support coordinator with Survivor Outreach Services said the display is to provide a place to honor the fallen.
The display is located at Veterans Park, directly across from Tulsa VFW Post 577 near 6th and Peoria.
A public dedication took place May 28 at 2 p.m. and the display is open Sunday, May 29: 6 a.m. -7 p.m. and Monday, May 30: 6 a.m. -5 p.m..
