TULSA, Okla. — Riders came from all across the country for three days of racing for the Saint Francis Tulsa Tough.
The event always draws a large crowd, especially for Crybaby Hill on Sunday.
With the heat this weekend, organizers want everyone who come to stay hydrated.
Tulsa Tough’s Executive Director, Malcolm McCollam said it’s important for the community to come together and support Saint Francis after such a tragedy.
Despite the weekend filled with fun, many in the community are still mourning the loss of the four victims on June 1 on the Saint Francis campus.
This year, he said, Tulsa Tough has several layers.
“There’s a lot of resilience that has to go into any athletic competition, cycling certainly,” he said.
McCollam also said whatever obstacles, we can get through as a community.
“Whether you’re a racer or recreational rider, we all incur obstacles, and it’s what we do with them,” McCollam said. “And how we get up and get through it, that helps define us, not only as individuals, but as a community. So, I’m glad we’re able to do this. I’m glad we’re here for the community and to be able to put this event on and really bring some love and joy and coming together back to the table.”
McCollam said he wants everyone with a bicycle to come out to the townie ride on Sunday afternoon, wearing pink in support of Saint Francis. The ride starts at 2:15 p.m. on the corner of Riverside and Galveston.
