TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police are investigating after a woman drove herself to a west Tulsa fire station with a bullet lodged in her skull Wednesday night.
Captain Jerrod Hart says minutes before midnight, a woman arrived at the fire station at 2404 West 51st Street in a shot-up car with the windows shattered and a bullet lodged above her left ear.
Hart says the woman was surprisingly alert and able to talk so she told police everything she could remember. The woman told police she was waiting outside of a relative’s house near 3700 West 52nd Street to stay the night after a family gathering in Tulsa.
Police believe the shots may have been fired due to a drive-by shooting in the area.
While sitting in her car, the woman told police a dark-colored truck drove past and shots were fired. Hart says after the woman was shot in the head, she drove herself to the nearby fire station to get help.
After investigating the neighborhood, TPD found multiple shell casings from different guns outside the home where the woman was waiting.
Captain Hart says the 26-year-old woman was taken to St. Francis to be treated for the gunshot wound. Police are still working to learn more about what led to the shots being fired.
