Arizona boy, 16, charged with negligent homicide after 13-year-old brother shot, killed

TUCSON, Ariz. — A 16-year-old boy is facing a negligent homicide charge after his 13-year-old brother was shot and killed over the weekend, authorities said.

According to KGUN and the Arizona Republic, the incident occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday in an apartment on West Valencia Road in Tucson. The two teens were in a bedroom when a gun discharged, striking the younger brother, Tucson police said. Other family members were inside the home but not in the same room, authorities said.

The 13-year-old died at the scene, according to the news outlets. Although the older brother and a relative fled after the shooting, police found them outside an area church, authorities said.
