Return of the Jedi lands on the Philbrook lawn for a night of nostalgia and great adventure

TULSA, Okla. — Not so long ago, on Fri. evening at an art museum on the planet of T-Town, Jedis, padawans, emperors and empresses, rebels, Sith Lords and stormtroopers showed up with the Force for the Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi screening on the lawn.  The sci-fi action movie came out in 1983.

The Philbrook has held numerous screenings of nostalgic and noteworthy films on their lawn since the 1970s.

Past flicks, such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Princess Bride and  Ratatouille have drawn crowds of all generations.

Philbrook held a Star Wars cosplay contest for attendees to show up in garments that were out of this world.

Darth Vader and Palpatine arrived at the museum grounds with lightsabers but reportedly did not challenge anyone to a serious battle. Star Wars fans took selfies with a life-sized Tie Fighter, and FOX23 had an exclusive interview with R2D2.

For anyone with hope to meet Ewok, Wicket W. Warrick, they would be sadly disappointed.

Wicket struggled to make the journey from the forest moon of Endor. Jabba the Hut was also a no-show.

Ultimately, families, couples and friends of different generations and backgrounds were all held captive by the movie magic of Star Wars creator George Lucas.
