U.S. Postal Service customers die before mail delivered

Letter written 83 years ago

The snail died before the mail was delivered.

A letter written 83 years ago by a school teacher in Maine to her mother 150 miles away has finally been delivered.

Miriam McMichael sent the nine-page letter from Houlton, Maine, to her mom in Pittsfield, using a 2-cent stamp in 1931.

Both the mother and daughter are no longer living.

The Morning Sentinel says only recently was the letter found at the post office in Pittsfield and it was given to relatives.
