TULSA, Okla. — An event showcasing East Asian culture was held at OU-Tulsa on Sunday.

Asian World Experience 2023 lasted from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event was a celebration of the Lunar New Year.

Rex Burnett, the director of East Asia Institute at the University of Oklahoma, said the event was a great opportunity for people to learn about East Asian culture.

The event featured traditional East Asian songs and dances, a Japanese tea ceremony, martial arts and more.

“So this is a good opportunity for the people of Tulsa to come out and see really what these cultures are about, an opportunity to broaden their minds, to see another world,” he said.

Burnett said the goal of the East Asia Institute is to help promote East Asian cultures in communities and schools across Oklahoma.
