Woman accused of pouring hot grits on man, beating him with baseball bat

Deputies: Victim suffered burns, left the home with his head bleeding

Charges accuse a woman of pouring hot grits on a sleeping man and then beating him with a baseball bat.

The Prince George's Maryland County Sheriff's Office announced the charges against 42-year-old Alexis Staton of Capitol Heights on Thursday.

Deputies say Staton poured grits on the man while he was sleeping inside her home July 31.

Deputies say the man suffered burns to his body and left the home with his head bleeding.

When he jumped out of bed, deputies say, Staton hit him in the head with the baseball bat.

Authorities haven't disclosed a motive for the attack.

Staton was arrested Aug. 4.

She is out on bond.

Her public defender declined to comment.
