Utah to allow firing squad executions

Utah first to allow firing squads if no lethal injection drugs available

Firing squads are an alternative to perform executions in Utah.

Utah's governor says firing squads are "a little bit gruesome," but he's signed a law that makes his state the first to allow firing squads if no lethal injection drugs are available.

Gov. Gary Herbert says the state now has a fallback execution method.

Opponents say it's barbaric and makes Utah look bad.
