Thief's sagging pants, bright-red underwear leads to capture

Cops say a belt would have done him good

"I just happened to sit in the car for a moment and in my rear-view mirror about 500 hundred yards away I see a guy bending over putting garbage bags down,” Officer Russell Harris said.

“What do I see, lo and behold. I see red underwear standing out."

Harris was on the lookout for a man with baggy pants and bright-red underdrawers after the report of a robbery earlier that night.

When he paused to put on the kicks, a neighbor snapped a photo and sent it to police. It showed a man in sagging jeans and red underwear.

Police told the AP Taykim Ross made off with electronics, cash, and a pair of blue Air Jordan's. However, Ross was too anxious to sport his brand-new booty.

Harris was on the beat when he spotted the offending briefs and arrested Ross without incident. "If he would have gone home and put a belt on, I probably wouldn't have noticed him," Harris noted.

Ross now faces a charge of burglary. He was released on probation.
