Texas man executed for woman's murder

Had been on parole for triple slaying years earlier

After spending 19 years on death row, a Texas man is executed for the strangulation and beating death of a woman.

Fifty-seven-year-old Robert Ladd received a lethal injection Thursday evening after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected arguments that he was mentally impaired and ineligible for the death penalty.

In 1996, Ladd killed 38-year-old Vicki Ann Garner of Tyler, Texas, while he was on parole for a triple slaying years earlier.
