Six-year old meat served to students

Feds: Frozen food is safe indefinitely

Food-handling procedures are changing at a school district in Tennessee after discovering that pork from six years ago was served to students in the Hawkins County district last week.

No sicknesses have been reported from the frozen meat.

The Kingsport Times-News reports the Agriculture Department recommends eating frozen roasts within 12 months, but it says frozen food is safe indefinitely.
