School forces students to pull down their pants, expose underwear during inspection

Two dozen kids said to be searched

Angry parent Maria Medina claims the actions were taken after teachers reported, "finding poop on the gym floor." She said workers told the kids to “pull down their pants to check them to see if they could find anything."

Maria told WFAA her 11-year-old daughter Eliza was one of the students searched.

She didn’t like it.

Maria's feelings were stronger. "I was furious. I mean, I was furious," she steamed.

"I felt uncomfortable, and I didn't want to do it," she began. "I felt like they violated my privacy."

Mendoza said the boys are girls were separated for the inspection, but that didn’t calm her anger.

Gustine, Texas district Superintendent Ken Baugh claims the students were told to lower their pants "just a little."

That didn’t assuage Maria. "Wrong is wrong," she said.

Baugh confirmed the district is investigating the matter and agreed with parent's concern.

"That's not appropriate, and we do not condone that," he told the station.

The topic is likely to be on the agenda at the school board meeting Thursday night where Baugh can be sure he’ll get more than a few comments from moms and dads.

"Maybe we can find a much better way to solve this” Baugh surmised.
