OK Supreme Court: Ten Commandments monument must go

Supreme Court says it violates the state constitution

The Ten Commandments monument displayed at the Oklahoma Capitol building must be taken down.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court voted 7-2 in favor of removing the monument.

They found that because it favors a specific religion, it violates the Oklahoma Constitution.

The monument was a gift from State Representative Mike Ritze of Broken Arrow.

The current monument is a replacement. The first one was destroyed when a man drove into it.

Ritze tells KRMG the fight is not over.

He says his legal team is working up a motion to reconsider.

If that doesn't work, he says, they will consider appealing the case before a higher court.
