Nurse charged with placing toddler in scalding water

Authorities: Water temperature was 130-degrees

The nurse practitioner faces charges in the killing of a developmentally disabled toddler who was submerged in scalding bath water.

Prosecutors in Queens, New York, say the 54-year-old woman (Oluyemisi Adebayo) was arrested Wednesday just as she was about to board a flight to Africa.

Authorities say she was taking care of a 23-month-old girl on April 21, and submerged the child in a tub of 130-degree water.

The girl died Monday, three days after doctors performed surgery on her.
