Mom jailed in son's circumcision case

31-year-old woman was missing with her 4-year-old son for nearly three months

A Florida woman is due back in court after she was jailed for a week after fleeing with her son to keep him from being circumcised.

Heather Hironimus is expected to appear Friday before the judge who warned she faced imprisonment if she ignored his orders.

The 31-year-old woman was missing with her 4-year-old son for nearly three months before being arrested last week.

But he withdrew the lawsuit this week after an initial hearing in which the judge expressed outright skepticism.

With Hironimus' legal options dwindling, her attorney sought to make a civil rights issue of the case, filing a complaint in federal court.

Hironimus and the boy's father, Dennis Nebus (seated right), have been warring over the circumcision for years.
