Lake Texoma drains into scary-looking whirlpool

Vortex created by open floodgates

If you're scared of water, this would be a scene straight from your nightmares.

A giant whirlpool in Lake Texoma on the Oklahoma/Texas border, churning, muddy water swirling down into darkness.

It looks surreal, but it's just a simple vortex created when they open the floodgates.

That's not to say it isn't dangerous.

They've got the whole area blocked off with buoys and lines and signs to keep boats away.
